The Treats Disappearing Faster Than Candy!
I love Halloween, and these Halloween Rice Krispies Treats might be my favorite project yet. They’re festive, simple, and always a hit with kids and adults.
A few years ago, I shared my Pumpkin & Frankenstein Rice Krispie Treats, and they were such a success that I had to make more. This year, I went bigger with eight new designs: mummy, ghost, black cat, spider, bat, zombie, witch, and spider web.
They’re the perfect party treat, fun to decorate and even more fun to eat. My kids couldn’t get enough, and honestly, neither could I!
Quick Tip
Each Halloween Rice Krispies Treat “recipe” can be scaled up or down. Note that the amount of chocolate will vary on the size of the treat and how much chocolate is coating the treat. I recommend having extra chocolate on hand just in case!

Halloween Rice Krispies Treats Tips
Making Halloween Rice Krispie Treats from scratch? Here are a few tricks to get soft, chewy bars every time:
- Keep heat low. Melt marshmallows slowly. High heat makes them hard.
- Use fresh marshmallows. Fresh bags melt smoother and give softer bars.
- Don’t pack too tight. Gently press the mixture into the pan instead of smashing it down. Lighter pressure = better texture.

Equipment
- 9 x 9-inch baking pan
Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 (16-ounce) bag miniature marshmallows divided
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper (or foil) with an overhang and lightly spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large pot, melt butter over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. As soon as butter is melted, reduce heat to low. Add in 8 cups mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are just melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in salt (reduce if sensitive to salt), vanilla extract, and Rice Krispies cereal. Stir to coat the cereal with melted marshmallows. Once well coated, pour in the rest of the marshmallows (2-1/2 cups). Stir to coat until ingredients are well incorporated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Lightly spritz your hands with cooking spray and press the mixture gently into the prepared pan. Don’t press too hard or you’ll get a dense/hard treat. Set aside to cool, about 30 minutes.
- Use the parchment overhang to pull the bars out from the pan. Use a sharp knife to make cuts (run knife under hot water, then dry with a towel for easier cutting). Enjoy! These bars are best enjoyed the same day.
