Chicken Caesar Sandwich

Caesar Salad has a special spot in my heart, and while I love making it from scratch, I often grab a pre-packaged kit to save time—especially on busy weeknights during back-to-school madness. Let’s be real, who has time to whip up a main dish, sides, and a salad from scratch every night?

That’s where this recipe comes in! We’re using a Caesar salad kit, adding crispy chicken for extra protein, and stuffing it all into buttery toasted sub rolls. The result? A quick, flavorful dinner (or lunch) that’s bound to be a hit!

All the ingredients for this recipe are prepped and ready for easy assembly: butter, parmesan, seasonings, meat, flour, lemon, and oil.

Chicken Caesar Sandwich Ingredients

  • Sub rolls: Soft rolls toast nicely without getting too hard.
  • Butter: Use softened butter so it spreads easily. I like to leave a stick out overnight!
  • Garlic powder: Adds a light garlic flavor without being too strong.
  • Mayo: A creamy good-quality mayo is best here! I love Best Foods.
  • Caesar salad kit: A chopped kit saves tons of time and has everything you need in it.
  • Chicken cutlets: Crispy chicken is my favorite, but rotisserie chicken is a quick swap if you’re in a pinch!
  • Parmesan cheese: Freshly grated Parmesan adds lots of flavor, but it’s optional.
Slicing and pounding the meat to an even thickness for these Chicken Caesar Sandwiches.

How To Make Chicken Caesar Sandwiches

  1. Prepare chicken: Cook cutlets or dice rotisserie chicken.
  2. Toast rolls: Spread butter inside rolls, sprinkle garlic powder, and toast until crisp. Spread mayo on both sides.
  3. Mix salad: Toss the Caesar salad kit in a bowl until well combined.
  4. Assemble sandwiches: Add salad to rolls, top with chicken, and grate cheese on top. Close and enjoy!

A Few Notes

  • Toast the rolls: Toast until crisp outside but soft inside. This keeps the sandwich from getting soggy and adds great texture.
  • Serve right away: Enjoy as soon as they’re assembled for the best flavor and texture.
  • For a crowd: Prep everything ahead and assemble the sandwiches just before serving.
Seasoning the meat, coating it in flour, and frying it in a skillet.

What To Serve With Chicken Caesar Sandwiches:

  • Potato chips or fries: Classic sides! Sweet potato fries, like Alexia® Crinkle Cut, are my fave side!
  • Pickles: Their tangy flavor goes great with the creamy sandwich.
  • Grilled or roasted veggies: Zucchini or bell peppers are delicious on the side.
  • Pasta salad: BLT, Italian, or Greek pasta salads are great options.
  • Fruit salad: Fresh and light to go with the sandwich.
Assembling the Chicken Caesar Sandwich by spreading mayo and seasonings on the bread, adding the salad mix, and topping it with chicken and parmesan.

Storage

These sandwiches are best right away. If needed, store each part separately: salad in the fridge, chicken in a container, and rolls at room temp. Put it all together just before eating to keep the bread from getting soggy.

Equipment

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Cook chicken cutlets (click the link in the ingredients) or dice up rotisserie chicken to get 1 cup.
  • Brush the inside of each sub roll generously with softened butter. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder, then toast in a skillet or broil in the oven until golden and slightly crisp. Let cool slightly, then generously spread mayo on both sides of the rolls.
  • Pour the contents of the Caesar salad kit into a large bowl. Use tongs to mix until well combined. IF using rotisserie chicken instead of crispy chicken, add to the salad.
  • Divide the salad mixture evenly among the rolls. Divide chicken cutlets evenly on top. Use a microplane to grate fresh Parmesan cheese over the top, if desired. Close the sandwich and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Note 1: Packaged chopped Caesar salad kits work best because the lettuce is already cut into small pieces.
Note 2: Many grocery and warehouse stores offer hot-and-ready rotisserie chicken! That works great if you don’t want to prepare the crispy chicken. Dice up 1 cup and toss with the salad mix.
Storage: Like most sandwiches, these subs won’t store well. Keep the ingredients separate until you’re ready to enjoy.
