15-Minute Sandwich Magic!

I’ll start by telling you my middle son called these Hot Honey Chicken Sliders “the best sandwich EVER.” Between these and my oldest son’s favorite crispy chicken sandwiches, I’m set on dinner sandwiches for a while!

I threw this recipe together during one of those wild weeknights where we were running in three different directions, trying to get everyone fed and out the door.

I didn’t have time to make anything from scratch, so I grabbed what I had on hand: frozen chicken tenders, a bag of coleslaw, and some leftover slider rolls. And honestly? It might be the best dinner shortcut I’ve taken in a while!

You can totally make everything from scratch, but I’m not kidding when I say the store-bought route makes one seriously good sandwich and they’re ready in 15 minutes or less!

Ingredients In Hot Honey Chicken Sliders

  • Brioche Slider Rolls: Look for soft, fresh rolls; toast for better flavor and texture.
  • Crispy Chicken Strips: I use Tyson, but any brand will work. Air fry or bake until crispy.
  • Coleslaw Mix: A bagged mix saves time and works perfectly here!
  • Coleslaw Dressing: Litehouse is my go-to, but homemade works great too.
  • Hot Honey: This is regular honey with some spice added. (You can make your own!)
  • Hot Sauce: This brings the heat! Adjust to spice preference.

Sides For Hot Honey Chicken Sliders

  • Crispy French Fries: Nothing beats fries on the side! Regular or sweet potato.
  • Potato Chips: Kettle-cooked or spicy chips make the perfect crunchy side.
  • Macaroni Salad: A creamy side to balance the heat.
  • Fruit Salad with Yogurt: The perfect sweet and light side.
  • Baked Beans: Hearty and slightly sweet; they’re perfect with these sliders.

Storage

Store leftover chicken, slaw, and buns separately in airtight containers. Reheat the chicken in an air fryer or oven to keep it crispy. The slaw is best eaten within a day or two. Assemble hot honey chicken sliders fresh.

Instructions

  • Air fry or bake the chicken tenders according to the package directions. Cut down as needed to fit in the buns nicely.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl or small saucepan, combine butter, hot honey, hot sauce, and salt. Heat until melted, then whisk until smooth.
  • In a large bowl, toss the coleslaw mix with the coleslaw dressing using tongs. Add more dressing for a creamier slaw or more coleslaw mix for a lighter one. Let sit while prepping the other ingredients, tossing once more before assembling.
  • Lightly butter the slider rolls and toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden. Set aside.
  • Toss the cooked chicken tenders in the hot honey sauce, shaking off excess. Layer each bottom bun with a scoop of slaw, then the sauced chicken, and pickles if using. Spread mayo on the top bun, then close the sandwich.

Recipe Notes

Note 1: I like using Tyson’s crispy chicken strips. They’re tasty and cook quickly in the air fryer. Use your favorite fried, baked, or air-fried chicken tenders.
Note 2: You can also make homemade coleslaw. If not, grab a good-quality coleslaw dressing from the refrigerated section near the produce.
Note 3: I use Frank’s RedHot hot sauce. Adjust the amount based on your spice preference.
Storage: Keep leftover chicken, slaw, and buns in separate airtight containers. Reheat the chicken in the oven or air fryer so it stays crispy. Slaw is best within 1–2 days. Wait to assemble the sliders until just before serving.

I dont like Hot Honey, so should I leave it out or use regular honey? I’ll probably use a milder hot sauce, too
