We have a local grocery store that sells produce at incredibly good prices, and every once in a while, I can snag a whole crate of raspberries for the price of one regular container. It’s too good a deal to pass up, but it’s always more than we can eat quickly, even when we make berry cheesecake salad. That’s when I came up with this incredibly delicious raspberry lemonade.

We make this delicious lemonade pretty much year-round, and with so many extra raspberries, I decided to surprise my kids with a raspberry version. After some experimenting and lots of raspberry snacking, I am excited to share this perfected raspberry lemonade.

It’s so refreshing and has quickly become a favorite in my home!

All the ingredients in this recipe prepped out for easy assembly.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Lemon: What really makes your lemonade stand out is using fresh, not bottled, lemon juice. It gives your lemonade a bright and fresh flavor. It takes about 6-7 lemons to get a cup of lemon juice.
  • Raspberries: Fresh, in-season raspberries are ideal, but in a pinch frozen raspberries will work.Let them thaw slightly for easier blending. 
  • Sugar: Balances the tartness of the lemon juice with sweetness.
  • Cold Water: Adding cold water dilutes the lemon and sugar mixture to the perfect strength. Add the water gradually and taste as you go, since the right amount can vary based on how tart or sweet you like your lemonade.
  • Salt: I know this sounds strange, but just the tiniest pinch helps balance flavors and brings out the sweetness. 

QUICK TIP

 Can I use bottled lemon juice? You can use bottled lemon juice for raspberry lemonade, but fresh lemon juice will give you a much better and fresher flavor. 

How To Make Raspberry Lemonade

  1. Blend: Blend lemon juice, sugar, raspberries, and a pinch of salt in a blender until smooth.
  2. Strain: Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing to get all the juice out. Press the pulp with a wooden spoon to press through as much as possible.
  3. Chill: If you have time, put this mixture in the fridge for about an hour to get it extra cold. For a quick chill, pop it in the freezer for 15-20 minutes, but keep an eye on it.
  4. Add Water: Add 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher and adjust to taste. Start with less water and add more if you’d like. Try sparkling water for a sparkling raspberry lemonade.
  5. Serve: Serve the lemonade over ice and add fresh mint or a handful of raspberries if you like.

Recipe Variations

  • Mixed Berry Lemonade: Use both raspberries and blackberries to make a lemonade that’s extra fruity and a bit tart. Or give this Blueberry Lemonade a try.
  • Garnishes: Rim your glasses with sugar or add a lemon slice for decoration. You can also put in some additional whole berries or some mint leaves to make it look fancy!
  • Raspberry Mint Lemonade: Toss in fresh mint leaves for a unique flavor.
  • Sparkling Lemonade: Replace water with sparkling water to make it fizzy. 
  • Raspberry Lemonade Slushy: Freeze in ice cube trays then blend into a slushy.
  • Doubling the Recipe: To make a larger batch of lemonade, simply double or triple all the ingredients. Taste as you go and you’ll have a delicious, refreshing drink for the masses!

Tips For Raspberry Lemonade

  • Picking Lemons & Raspberries: Choose lemons that are heavy and a little soft, and raspberries that are bright and firm.
  • Adjust the Sweetness: To adjust the sweetness, taste the blended mix before adding water. If you want it sweeter, add more sugar. If it’s too sweet, dilute it by adding more water.
  • Tools: If you make lemonade often enough, consider getting a good juicer. Strain out the seeds, but feel free to leave the pulp in if you enjoy it.

STORAGE

Store your raspberry lemonade in a pitcher or bottle (in the fridge) without ice for up to 4 days. When you’re ready to serve, pour it over ice and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (6-8 juicy lemons)
  • 1 cup white, granulated sugar
  • 8 oz fresh (or frozen) raspberries (packed 1-1/2 cups)
  • Tiny pinch (1/16 tsp) salt
  • 4-6 cups cold water (preferably filtered)
  • For serving: ice, fresh mint (optional)

Instructions

  • BLEND: Combine first 4 ingredients in a high-powered blender. Blend until completely smooth, about 60 seconds.
  • STRAIN: Place a fine mesh sieve over a wide-mouth pitcher or wide bowl with a spout. Pour blended mixture through, pressing to extract all you can. I like to chill this mixture for an hour (if time permits).
  • ENJOY: Pour strained raspberry mixture into a pitcher then add cold water, gradually, until lemonade is to your liking. I start with 4 cups and taste, and then adjust from there. (I like it best with about 5 cups depending on sweetness of berries).
    Keep in mind, ice will water it down as well. Pour over ice and enjoy!
