The Smoothie That Saves Sick Days!

The minute cold and flu season hits, I’m always looking for ways to sneak more fruits, veggies, and antioxidant-packed ingredients into my kids’ diets without the complaints. That’s exactly why I came up with this smoothie.

I wanted something that could help us all feel better when we’re sick but still taste good enough that no one has to plug their nose to drink it. And honestly? Mission accomplished.

It’s got orange, mango, banana, yogurt, and even some carrot blended in. It’s creamy, refreshing, and full of flavor. My kids have asked for it almost every day this week. Definitely not just a “sick day” smoothie anymore!

Ingredients In Immune Boosting Smoothies

IngredientSwap or Tip
Frozen bananaUse ripe, spotty bananas for more natural sweetness and a creamier texture.
ClementineSwap with a small orange or mandarin if needed.
Mango chunksUse frozen pineapple or peaches for a similar creamy texture and vitamin boost.
Orange juiceFresh-squeezed is best, but bottled works. Avoid juice with added sugar.
CarrotUse pre-shredded carrots or carrot juice for easier blending.
Greek yogurtUse plain or vanilla Greek yogurt. Dairy-free yogurt works too.
GingerFreshly grated or frozen ginger cubes both work well.
TurmericA pinch goes a long way. Add black pepper to help with absorption.
IceAdjust based on how thick or cold you like your smoothie.
Fruit and ice in a blender jar, ready for a refreshing blend.

How To Make An Immune Booster Smoothie

  1. Add all ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend thoroughly until the mixture is creamy and free from chunks.
  3. Pour into two glasses, distributing equally.
  4. Serve right away for best flavor.

Quick Tip

If needed, add a little honey or maple syrup to sweeten your Immune Boosting Smoothie. I’ve found with a really good and ripe banana, plus good flavorful Greek yogurt, it doesn’t need the additional sweetener– but this can vary. So, give your smoothies a quick taste and add a teaspoon or two as needed.

Yum! I saw this on your Instagram page and finally went out to get mango to make my own. It is so delicious! The ginger gave it just a little savory taste and it’s so creamy. I needed to add a little water to get mine to blend properly, but my blender is relatively old and cheap. I’ll likely keep making this a few days week to keep my immune system fueled!
