My Sister’s Cottage Cheese Toast!
I was never a fan of cottage cheese growing up, but when I started focusing on protein, I realized how great of a source it is. The challenge? Learning to enjoy it.
Then, my sister sent me a photo of her savory Caprese cottage cheese toast, claiming it would win me over. Skeptical but curious, I grabbed the ingredients and gave it a try.
You guys, it completely changed my mind! It was the best way I’ve ever enjoyed cottage cheese. I loved it so much that I had the same toast for breakfast every day that week.
If you’re hesitant about cottage cheese, this recipe might just be the game changer for you too!

Cottage Cheese Toast Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quick Tip |
|---|---|
| Sourdough Bread | Toast until golden so it doesn’t get soggy |
| Avocado | Use a ripe one so it spreads easily and stays smooth |
| Cottage Cheese | Low-fat, non-fat, or full-fat all work |
| Cherry Tomatoes | Best for fresh flavor and good texture |
| Basil Leaves | Use small leaves or slice large ones thin |
| Salt & Pepper | Don’t be shy—cottage cheese needs seasoning |
| Olive Oil & Balsamic Syrup | Drizzle for extra flavor and a finished look |

Recipe Tips
I know, I know. How complicated can cottage cheese toast be? It’s not! But here are a few quick tips to make it the best possible meal:
- Cottage Cheese: Choose full-fat or 2% for a creamier texture.
- Bread: Toast the bread to a light golden brown to keep it crispy under toppings.
- Avocado: Slice just before serving and drizzle with lemon juice (if you have some) to keep it fresh.
- Assembly: Assemble the toast right before eating to ensure the bread stays crisp and toppings fresh.
- Try Blending: If you aren’t sure about the curds or want a creamier texture, blend the cottage cheese until smooth before adding to the toast.

Variations
- Mediterranean: Cucumber, tomato, olives, feta, oregano, olive oil
- Berry & Honey: Berries, nut butter, honey
- Peach & Pecan: Peaches, pecans, maple syrup, almond butter
- Avocado & Egg: Avocado, fried or poached egg, chili flakes or chili crisp
- Apple Cinnamon: Apple slices, cinnamon, granola, caramel drizzle
- Roasted Veg: Roasted zucchini and peppers, parmesan, balsamic glaze
