Four easy and creative Christmas mason jar gift ideas. A grinch jar, santa jar, reindeer jar, and snowman jar!

I’m adore all things mason jars — I have way too many and I use them for just about everything. This year when I was brainstorming for Christmas ideas to share, I knew it was time to put those jars to good use! So today I’ve got 4 super easy Christmas mason jar ideas for you! I know a lot prepare for Christmas early, so I hope these help out your plans. And for those that don’t even want to think Christmas until after Thanksgiving is over, make sure to save these ideas for later! ☺️ First up, there is a video tutorial just above this text, and next, a more detailed list of instructions for each of the jars!

A quick note, I was able to find everything needed for this project between my grocery store and one craft store. I’ve included some links to Amazon below for those that prefer the convenience of online shopping.

For all of these Christmas gifts, I use 16-ounce (1 pint) jars. If you are planning to make a lot, I would go with an 8-ounce jar (or even smaller) or it will get quite spendy to fill lots of jars with candies.

GRINCH JARS: These are my favorite so they get first in the line-up. ☺️

The other three ideas came easier, but I could not think of a fourth Christmas jar. When I was at the store getting the “buckle” for the Santa Jar (below), I saw some heart-shaped buttons and immediately thought about doing something Grinch related! Finding a green candy wasn’t too hard since one of my favorite candies happen to be mint-flavored M&M’s. And those just happen to be all the shades of green. So there you go — Grinch Christmas Jars! ?

In case you aren’t near a craft store or like shopping online, here are some very similar buttons/ribbon to the ones I use for this jar (In the jar pictured, both buttons and ribbon were found at Hobby Lobby)

Ingredients

  • Mason Jars
  • Red Ribbon
  • Mint M&M's
  • Red heart-shaped Buttons
  • Hot glue gun + glue

Instructions

  • Fill as many mason jars as you want with the mint-flavored M&M's. 1 bag of Mint M&M's fills an 8-ounce jar about 3/4ths the way full so I use about 3 bags per 2 8-ounce mason jars.
  • (To cut down on cost if you are making a lot use smaller mason jars or a less expensive green-colored candy)
  • Tie a festive red ribbon around the top of the mason jar.
  • Using hot glue and a hot glue gun, glue the heart button to the right side of the jar (right from where the tie of the ribbon ends up.)

SANTA JARS are next and definitely the easiest of all these jars!

I completely love the simplicity of the Santa jars — a bright red candy with a black ribbon and a belt buckle. Super easy to assemble but they make such an adorable gift. Really any red candy will be great in these — our favorites are the chewy cherry sours. Other ideas: red M&M’s, red hots, licorice, Swedish Fish, peppermints, etc.

REINDEER JARS come third in the line-up. To create this mason jar all you’ll need are some pipe cleaners, red pom-poms, and wiggle eyes. I found all three at Wal-Mart, but they are also an easy find at a crafting store. Target usually also has all three, although I have had a hard time finding pom-poms before.

Just like the other jars, these can be filled with an assortment of different treats other than chocolate-covered pretzels. You can even make your own chocolate treats to fill up these jars — if you are looking for recipes here are a few: chocolate microwave fudge, chocolate cashew toffee clusters, thin mint cups and cookie butter crunch cups. For different candy ideas: Whoppers, Raisinets, Mini Reese’s, Mini Butterfingers, Milk Duds, etc.

In case you prefer the convenience of shopping online, here are some wiggle eyes, pom-poms, and pipe-cleaners:

And last of all, SNOWMAN JARS …because they are my least favorite of the four. Just kidding πŸ™‚ One has to go last and this just happens to be it.

I tried a few things to make these jars look like a snowman including an orange button for a carrot nose, but in the end simplicity won out. Easy pipe cleaner + pom-pom ear muffs and a few buttons completes the decor on this jar. As far as candy to fill it — white-chocolate covered pretzels are what I used. Other ideas: a white chocolate-snack mix, popcorn, white Lifesavers mints, buttermint creams, etc.

In case you prefer the convenience of shopping online, here are some striped pipe-cleaners, black buttons, and pom-poms:

Love these! I think these will make great gifts for my kids’ bus driver & teachers. I think I might add cotton balls to the lid for the Santa jar! I hope it will look okay πŸ™‚

I love these decorated jar crafts! The Grinch & Santa are for sure my favorites and so simple to do. What plugin are you using to add these crafts to your post? I like the plain print option and star ratings.

    1. Thanks Gloria! I talk about the buckle right under the picture of the Santa jar — there is a link to purchase buckles on Amazon or you can check your local craft store (I found them at Hobby Lobby in the sewing section)

Cute idea! My 6 yr old gson gave me this idea to share. When showing him the grinch jar he said it looked kind of like santas helpers if it had an elf hat on top. He’s more creative than I!
