My Kids’ New Favorite Tradition!
Move over, Cut Out Sugar Cookies… decorating these cute Reindeer Cookies is way more fun. I’m serious, once you start piping on those little antlers and candy noses, it’s impossible not to smile.
And who can resist a good chocolate cookie?! They’re the best. My son would absolutely disagree though. He’s firmly on Team Soft Sugar Cookies and reminds me every time I bake a batch. Meanwhile, I’m always going to lean chocolate. It’s just who I am.
These Reindeer Cookies quickly became a new favorite because they’re not just festive, they’re such a blast to make. My kids crowd around the counter waiting to decide whose reindeer looks the silliest, and honestly, I love the decorating part just as much as they do. And bonus: they’re incredibly delicious too.

Reindeer Cookie Ingredients
| Ingredient | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Chocolate cookies | Pick classic, brownie, or caramel from the recipe or grab store-bought cookies or dough. |
| Chocolate frosting | Homemade or store-bought both work great. Use whatever is easiest. |
| Pretzel twists | These make the reindeer antlers. |
| Vanilla wafers | The perfect little base for the reindeer face. |
| Edible candy eyes | Easy to find in most baking aisles or online. |
| Red candies | I use M&M’s, but any small red chocolate candy works for the nose. |

Tips For Making Reindeer Cookies
- Cool before decorating: Let cookies cool; otherwise, the frosting may melt.
- Frosting: For a smoother look, use a piping bag.
- Decorating details: Secure eyes and noses with frosting; gently add pretzel antlers to attach without breaking.
- Decoration timing: If possible, add the pretzels and wafers close to the time of serving to maintain their crunch.
- Presentation fun: Serve Reindeer Cookies on a bed of coconut flakes to mimic snow!
Storage
Once decorated, enjoy these Reindeer Cookies soon, as the vanilla wafers and pretzels tend to soften quickly.
