Hot Honey + Chicken Salad = The Dream Combo

Hot honey is having a major moment right now, and I seriously can’t get enough of it. I love that subtle heat mixed with a little sweetness…especially in the viral ground beef taco bowls all over social media (have you tried them yet?!)

So when I had the idea to mix those hot honey flavors with my all-time favorite sandwich, chicken salad, I thought it would be a slam dunk. But my first try? Total flop. It wasn’t even close to what I had in mind, and I almost scrapped the whole thing.

Thankfully, I didn’t give up. I kept tweaking the mix until it had the perfect balance: a little sweet, a little heat, just the right veggies, and a nice punch of savory from the garlic and onion powder. I’m so excited to share this one with you; I truly think you’re going to love it!

Hot Honey Chicken Salad Ingredients

IngredientsHelpful Tip
Rotisserie ChickenChop into small bite-sized pieces instead of shredding for better texture.
Carrots, Celery & Green OnionGrate carrots on the large holes of a box grater and finely dice veggies for even dispersion in the salad.
Mayo & Sour CreamFull-fat makes it creamier, but light versions work too. Use a good mayo; I like Duke’s or Best Foods.
Honey, Hot Sauce, Garlic & Onion PowderStart with less hot sauce and add more if you’d like. Use hot honey or red pepper flakes for extra heat.
Salt & PepperAlways season last since rotisserie chicken can already be salty!

Hot Honey Chicken Salad: Let’s Serve It!

  • What to serve with: Sweet potato fries, crisp cucumber salad, fresh fruit, chips, or a simple garden salad.
  • Serving suggestions: Pile it onto toasted mini naan, warm pita, or wheat bread. It’s also great with crackers or in lettuce cups. I love adding avocado and lettuce when serving it on bread, naan, or pita.
