Our Favorite Summer Drink!

I’ve been on a roll with Chick-Fil-A copycat recipes lately. Chicken salad, coleslaw, kale salad, crispy chicken sandwiches, the sauce… and here’s one more before I take a little break. Their frozen lemonade! These have become a summertime staple around my home, but let’s be real…buying one for everyone adds up fast. So I thought, why not just make them at home?

And honestly? I’m loving it. You can make them exactly how you like. Extra tart, extra creamy, whatever mood you’re in. I whipped up a batch the other day while my son had a friend over, and his friend said it was better than the real deal. I’ll take that win!

Frozen Lemonade Ingredients

Think of frozen lemonade as a cross between a slushy and homemade sorbet. Here’s what we’ve got in it:

IngredientAmountNotes and Swaps
Chilled lemonade1 cupNothing beats homemade in this recipe!
Vanilla ice cream2 cupsI like Edy’s slow-churned or Häagen‑Dazs Vanilla Bean
Lemon zest½ teaspoonI love this zester
Lemon juice1 tablespoonI love this juicer
Optional sweetenerTo tasteAdd sugar, honey, or agave if you’d like your frozen lemonade sweeter

Pro Tips For The Best Frozen Lemonade

  • Chill the lemonade: Make sure it’s super cold before blending.
  • Use firm ice cream: Scoop it straight from the freezer for a thick texture.
  • Blend gently: Pulse or blend on low just until smooth.
  • Chill your cups: Freeze your glasses beforehand for an hour so the drink stays cold.
  • Use SunKist lemons: This is what Chick-Fil-A uses in their lemonade.
  • Pick the right ice cream: IMO Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean is the closest match to Chick-Fil-A’s Ice dream.

Recipe Notes

In my opinion, nothing beats good homemade lemonade here. Use SunKist lemons if you can. I think Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Bean works best in this recipe.
