My Late-Night Craving Fix!

I grew up in Utah where “fluff salads” were at every gathering. We always had ambrosia salad, Watergate salad, and the Snickers salad that felt like a full-on dessert. That one was my favorite.

I also loved dipping Oreos in whipped cream as a kid, so I combined the fluff salad idea I grew up with and the Oreos I loved. It’s unbelievably delicious.

Me and my kids love dipping fruit in it or eating it straight with a spoon. It’s a favorite in my home!

Oreo Fluff Recipe Ingredients

IngredientSwaps or Tips
MilkAny fat level works. For light tang, use part or all buttermilk.
Instant PuddingVanilla is classic, but chocolate, cheesecake, or white chocolate work great. Must be instant, not cook-and-serve.
Whipped ToppingUse thawed topping. Homemade lightly sweetened whipped cream works if serving the same day. Full fat tastes richer.
OreosAny flavor works. Try Double Stuf for extra cream or Mini Oreos for topping.
Mini Marshmallows (optional)Adds extra body and sweetness. Skip if you want it less sweet.

Quick Tip

If you want the Oreos to retain a little crunch, make the salad right before eating.  The longer they sit, the softer they get.

Oreos chopped out to be added to the oreo fluff.

How To Make Oreo Fluff Recipe

  1. Whisk: Start by mixing the milk and vanilla pudding mix until smooth.
  2. Fold: Gently fold in the whipped topping.
  3. Combine: Mix in the chopped Oreos and mini marshmallows, if using.
  4. Chill: For softer cookies, chill fluff before serving. For a little crunch, serve immediately.

Variations

Switch Things Up

  • Double Stuf: Swap regular Oreos for Double Stuf Oreos.
  • Mint: Use Mint Oreos and a few drops of green food coloring.
  • Buttermilk: Replace the milk with buttermilk for a tangier Oreo fluff recipe.
  • Chocolate: Use chocolate pudding instead of vanilla. For extra chocolate, use chocolate-filled Oreos.

Storage

Make this Oreo Fluff Recipe a day ahead to let the cookies soften and meld into the mix. For advance prep, chop Oreos smaller or pulse them. Store in the fridge in an airtight container to keep fresh and odor-free, best enjoyed within 1-3 days.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk or 1% or 2%
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 (8-ounce) container frozen whipped topping thawed
  • 1 (13.2-ounce) package Oreos divided
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat together the dry pudding mix and milk until smooth.
  • Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping with a silicone spatula until fully incorporated, avoiding overmixing.
  • Place most of the Oreo cookies (keep cookie and creme together) in a large resealable plastic bag, saving a few whole ones for garnish. Crush them into pieces with a rolling pin, aiming for a mix of larger chunks and smaller crumbles. Fold these, along with the mini marshmallows (if using), into the mixture, ensuring they’re well coated.
  • Decorate with remaining Oreos, broken or crushed. Chill before serving for mousse-like texture or serve immediately for a crunchier cookie texture (see note 1).

Recipe Notes

Note 1: For a crunchier texture, eat immediately after preparing. For softer Oreos, prepare an hour to a day in advance, chopping Oreos into smaller pieces.
Storage: Enjoy within 1–3 days, storing any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions

  • Oreo Fluff Pie: Pile this “salad” into an Oreo crust and chill it for a few hours until firm. Cut into slices and serve.
  • As a dip: This fluff salad also works as a fun dip; dunk with fresh berries, graham crackers, or (gasp) more Oreos!
