This Leprechaun Bait Made Me The Cool Mom!
My mom went all out for every holiday, and St. Patrick’s Day was no exception. We wore green from head to toe. Dinner was completely green. I’m talking green spaghetti, green grapes, green salad. And dessert was always something fun and over the top.
Now that I’m the mom, I’ve simplified things. I skip the all-green dinner. But I never skip a festive treat.
The first time I made my Leprechaun Bait, I just wanted something quick for my kids to take to school and share with neighbors. I dumped cereal in a bowl, added pretzels for salt, tossed in green M&M’s, and melted white chocolate over the top.
It was gone in minutes.
Now it’s one of my go-to St. Patrick’s Day recipes along with Leprechaun Thumbprints and Lucky Charms Bars. It’s easy, colorful, and feels special without being complicated.

Leprechaun Bait Ingredients
- Corn Chex: I like the slight sweetness, but Rice Chex works too.
- Pretzel Twists: Sticks, itty bitty minis, or snaps work too.
- Lucky Charms: The perfect festive cereal for this mix!
- Lucky Charms marshmallows: I just pick them out from the cereal.
- Green M&M’s: I use regular and mini, but peanut butter or peanut would be great too.
- White chocolate chips: Go for good-quality chips for the best flavor and melt.
- Vegetable oil: Helps the chocolate melt smoothly. Canola or coconut oil works too.

Leprechaun Bait Tips
- Keep pieces similar: Ingredients mix best when they’re close in size.
- Use good white chocolate: Better chocolate melts smoother and tastes better.
- Don’t overheat chocolate: It keeps melting after you take it out. Stir every 30 seconds and for 20-25 seconds between bursts.
- Move fast: White chocolate sets quick, so mix it in as soon as it’s melted.

Have you used melting chocolate vs chips? Wondering if think it will work with melting chocolate?
Could I add nuts to this leprechaun Bait?
Totally!
This was a HIT! I got so many compliments on it, and itโs good for spring too, not just St Patrickโs day. Itโs so addictive and I had people coming to my desk all day to get more. My favorite part is how flexible it is to mix in other things. I ran out of m&ms and just used some mini chocolate chips, I added some green sprinkles and green sanding dust, pretzel sticks, etc. This will definitely be a regular work treat! I didnโt even take a picture before it was all gone.
I am so thrilled to hear this! Thanks so much Macayla! ๐
