PREP: Into a large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
MELT: In another large microwave-safe bowl, mix peanut butter, chocolate chips, and butter. Microwave in 15-second bursts, stirring each time until melted and smooth. Then, add vanilla and salt. Pour over cereal and gently stir until evenly coated.
COMBINE: Pour half of the cereal mixture into a gallon-sized sealable plastic bag and add half of the powdered sugar. Seal and shake until cereal is evenly coated. Repeat this process with remaining cereal and powdered sugar in same or a different bag. Shake until all the cereal is well coated. This separation ensures even coating of the cereal mixture.
ADD-INS: Transfer to a large bowl and optionally stir in M&M's, Reese's Pieces, or other desired additions. Enjoy!
STORAGE: Store leftover Puppy Chow in an airtight container at room temperature.
