If you love an easy make-ahead breakfast, these Overnight Oats Recipes are for you! I’m sharing my favorite tried-and-tested versions, plus all my best tips and tricks.
Base Overnight Oats: Combine: Add the oats, Greek yogurt, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt to a small bowl, mason jar, or airtight container. Stir well until everything is evenly combined. Chill: Cover and refrigerate overnight, or until the oats have thickened to your liking. They are best overnight, but can be enjoyed after as little as 30 to 45 minutes. Serve: Stir well, transfer to a bowl if desired, and add your favorite toppings.
Berry Overnight Oats: Combine: Prepare the Base Overnight Oats as directed, stirring the chopped berries into the mixture. Chill: Cover and refrigerate overnight, or until sufficiently thickened. Serve: Stir well and add any additional toppings you like.
Banana Overnight Oats: Combine: Add the oats, Greek yogurt, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, and chocolate chips to a small bowl, mason jar, or airtight container. Stir until evenly combined. Chill: Cover and refrigerate overnight, or until sufficiently thickened. Add banana: Just before serving, stir in the finely diced banana. Serve: Transfer to a bowl if desired and add your favorite toppings.
Notes
Note 1: Yogurt: The yogurt flavor really comes through in these oats, so choose a mild, sweetened yogurt you enjoy eating on its own. I love Greek Gods Honey Vanilla. Regular vanilla yogurt also works well if you don't want to use Greek yogurt.Note 2: Sweetener: Adjust the maple syrup to your preference. Use anywhere from 1/2 tablespoon to 2 tablespoons. You can also use about 1/4 teaspoon liquid stevia instead.Note 3: Base & Berry Toppings: Try a swirl of almond or peanut butter, mini chocolate chips, fresh berries, granola, or toasted chopped nuts.Note 4: Banana Toppings: Try sliced banana, 1 tablespoon almond or peanut butter, an extra sprinkle of cinnamon, chia seeds, 1 to 2 tablespoons toasted chopped pecans or walnuts, or 2 teaspoons mini chocolate chips.Storage: Store overnight oats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For the best texture, keep toppings separate and add them just before eating.
