PB&J: Lay out the 2 pieces of bread; spread peanut butter on one side and jelly on the other. Sandwich the two together. Spread softened butter in an even layer, covering the outer sides of the bread (both sides). Place in air fryer basket and air fry at 400 degrees F for 4-5 minutes. Let slightly cool, slice in half, and enjoy!
PB HONEY & BANANA: Lay out the 2 pieces of bread; spread peanut butter on one side, top with thin slices of banana, and then drizzle honey evenly over everything. I also like to add a teeny pinch of salt. Add the top piece of bread to sandwich together. Spread softened butter in an even layer, covering all of the bread outsides (both sides). Place in air fryer basket and air fry at 400 degrees F for 4-5 minutes. Let slightly cool, slice in half, and enjoy!
NUTELLA & BANANA: Lay out the 2 pieces of bread; spread Nutella on one side and then top with thin slices of banana gently pressing the banana into Nutella. Add top piece of bread to sandwich together. Spread softened butter in an even layer covering all of the bread (both sides). Place in air fryer basket and air fry at 400 degrees F for 4-5 minutes. Let slightly cool, slice in half and enjoy!
PB MARSHMALLOW FLUFF: Lay out the 2 pieces of bread; spread peanut butter on one side and marshmallow fluff on the other. Sandwich the two together. Spread softened butter in an even layer, covering the outsides of the bread (both sides). Place in air fryer basket and air fry at 400 degrees F for 4-5 minutes. Let slightly cool, slice in half, and enjoy!

Notes
Note 1: Texas Toast: The bread makes all the difference! We want to use thick-sliced bread like Texas Toast. This particular type of bread is sliced thicker than regular sandwich bread– which we’re relying on. If the bread is too thick, the fillings won’t get gooey and, too thin, the sandwich will be flimsy. Aim for bread sliced about 1 inch thick. Note 2: Butter: Don't skip it! The sandwiches need a layer of fat to air fry to a beautifully crisp sandwich!
Here’s how to soften butter quickly: Unwrap butter and place it on a plate. Then, fill up a wide liquid measuring cup with 1 cup of water. Microwave the water for 2 minutes or until really hot; then pour out the water and quickly dry the cup. Invert the hot measuring cup on top of the butter. Let stand for about 5-10 minutes.
Note 3: Air frying: If using a different bread than Texas Toast, you may need to press 2 toothpicks in the two corners of the sandwich to ensure the bread holds together firmly and doesn't shift apart as it cooks.Air fryers do vary a bit from brand to brand, so the timing for sandwiches may need to be slightly tweaked for your specific model. Also keep in mind that after the initial air fry, the machine is warmed up and will cook each subsequent sandwich a bit quicker. We find the sandwiches fry best if there is only one cooked at a time.Note 4: Calories will vary based on bread and which toppings you choose. We calculated calories for the Peanut Butter and Jelly version.
