Hey everyone! How is your weekend going so far?
You’re probably wondering what this post is all about since I really only ever share food and recipes around these parts! I’ve decided to start a new series on the blog to document a little bit of the behind-the-scenes. I’m not sure how original my title “Life Lately” is, but I think that pretty well sums up what the series is going to be about.
Basically anything and everything. I will be sharing some :behind-the-scenes”, some favorite finds from around the internet, some of my favorite kitchen products, lots and LOTS of baby pictures, etc. My family really is my whole world so I feel like I’m missing out by not documenting that a little better. I also want to let you into my life a bit more and share more from the “team” behind this blog. The team being mostly the toddler, babe, and me 😜. Well, and the husband is a huge part of this blog too. He’s my biggest support and he takes care of the accounting (just between you and me…the ONLY “c” I ever got was in a college math class. Math is definitely not one of my strengths!🙈)
This series will likely be heavy on the pictures and light on the writing. Although, I think you know sometimes I can get pretty talkative. And about strange things like the type of butter I like… Ahem. Oh, and I can guarantee there will be way more emojis than anyone should ever use in a blogpost.
I don’t have a set schedule for these posts but I’m aiming for one each month or two.
And to start off, this post is pretty much all from last Sunday (Easter). I bought the boys matching outfits (and matching bowties) and took way too many pictures of them. Hey, gotta take advantage when they are little and think it’s cool! 😜
Bentley is SIX months. How did that even happen?! He literally smiles every second that he’s awake and is the happiest little guy. He did promptly blow out of his diaper within about ten minutes of being in this outfit. Thankfully it only made it to his pants (oh, and my dress), but luckily he had some back-up khakis!
Grey participated in THREE Easter egg hunts and we still have a ginormous bowl full of candy. He gets 1-2 a day so I have a feeling we’ll still have candy come next year.
Also in that bowl are about 15 regular sized candy bars. Talk about the BEST Easter egg hunt ever — that was a major score (wrote about that one here). And being the great mother that I am…this was a very real scenario the day after Easter: 🙈🙊
We also had a family Easter egg hunt and then one with Grandma, Grandpa, and all his cousins which was absolutely his favorite one.
Grey spilled one of his eggs on the ground and promptly ate it from the grass 😂
Easter dinner we spent with family and I made a four-layered carrot cake from scratch and then these Spring-cookie bars. I’ve made a different carrot cake every year for Easter for the past 5 (maybe 6?) years and have yet to find an absolute winner. This year I tried 3 different recipes and all were good, but not quite perfect. One of these years I’ll nail down the perfect carrot cake and share it here!
These cookie bars though? INCREDIBLE. They start with browned butter, so can you really go wrong there? This is definitely a recipe I’ll want to share soon with you all! SO stay tuned.
